We chose this topic because climate change is destroying the environment, which we humans live in. Rising global temperatures are set to melt ice caps and will lead to an increase in sea level. Many areas in this world, such as New York, a state that is highly populated, will be submerged. We will have no choice but to move elsewhere; however, we will likely face extreme competition for land.
Over the past few years, the climate has become noticeably different. Winters are warmer; summers experience more extreme heat waves. Hurricanes, fueled by warming waters, are also impacting our lives. A couple of years ago, Hurricane Isaias tore through New York and knocked out the power of hundreds of thousands of people for weeks. Torn-down wires laying in the middle of the road posed risks to the residents. Some of our group members have seen these effects in their own neighborhoods. Although the impact of climate change can be severe, most regard this issue as simply an inconvenience. However, climate change will become a bigger and bigger problem for all of us. We wish to set the planet on the right track and to avert a climate catastrophe; that is why we chose this topic. |
Relationship between nature and artNature is art. Fore example, people appreciate photographs of nature. Many operating systems, such as Windows and MacOS, include nature photographs as default desktop backgrounds. If major companies like Microsoft and Apple are willing to invest so much money to buy nature photographs just so their customers can look at them, nature must be appreciated by many people. Furthermore, nature serves as inspiration for many art forms.
Because of this connection, destroying nature is tantamount to destroying art. Seeing litter and pollution destroy once-beautiful natural environments is part of the reason we chose this topic. |
